Academic Credentials

Languages have always been one of my big passions. It was therefore the most natural thing in the world for me to continue studying languages after completing my vocational training as a foreign language correspondent for English and Spanish (specialising in business and economics). My vocational training was followed by three years of translation studies, likewise in the languages English and Spanish. However, this time I decided to go with the specialised field engineering. I am now able to combine two of my personal interests in a perfect way: technical translations.

I graduated from the Institut für Fremdsprachen und Auslandskunde bei der Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (IFA)  in Erlangen, north-west of Nuremberg. My studies comprised both the fundamentals such as general language skills, translation methods and phonetics and working with CAT-tools (Computer-Assisted Translation). However, translation is not only about having good languages skills and working with suitable software. In fact, it is about understanding and analysing the source text and translating the information content into the target language competently.  This is why my studies also included classes in automotive and power engineering, material science and manufacturing.

In addition to the regular timetable I took classes in software localisation and project management.

Directly after graduating from IFA, I had my first experiences in the field of project management in the course of an internship in a translation agency near Nuremberg. I then worked as project manager for the Siemens Global Translation Services.

Swearing In

On 12 April 2018 I was publicly appointed and sworn-in for the English language by the President of the Regional Court of Nuremberg-Fürth. This means that I am authorized to do official, certified translations of your documents.

Technical Equipment

I work with CAT tools. These are computer programs for the translation sector. CAT tools ensure that specific terms in certain contexts are always translated consistently (Corporate Language). Furthermore, CAT tools can provide a detailed analysis of your documents for the purpose of providing a quote, which means that you’ll exactly know how much the translation of your documents will cost prior the start.
